Logos and custom artwork
We realize you are limited to a certain extent as to what your purchasing options are. Due to this fact, we are committed to providing you with the most cost-effective and visually-appealing logo possible. We are willing to work within tight budgets and have many options available to you:
Clipart Logo/Photo: A clipart logo/photo is a picture or symbol taken out of a clipart library. This means the pictures and symbols have already been created and they are very inexpensive, however, there are limitations on the use of this type of logo. First, they cannot be Trademarked or protected in any way. Second, they are not exclusive to you and others can use them at will. Third, they are usually not specific in identifying the goods or services you provide. This is the least expensive of the options.
Graphics To Go, Inc. would retain the rights to the clipart logo and you would be using it on our behalf. Think of it as "renting" a logo. You would not be allowed to reproduce the logo on your own flyers, letterheads, etc. We would have to design them for you and place the logo on. Failure to adhere to these rules could constitute copyright infringement and may violate personal property laws and is punishable by law. The cost for placing a clipart logo varies on the products. Business cards for example, has a one-time fee of $8 to $20 depending on type.
Clipart Logo with Revisions: This is the second least-expensive logo creation option. This involves taking a clipart logo and changing it or revising it to suit your needs. This could be as easy as changing a portion of the clipart. This, however, can be Trademarked, and can be used as an exclusive. The more you change on the clipart, the more it is exclusive to you. The price ranges from $75 to $250. Again, Graphics To Go, Inc. would retain the rights to the clipart logo with revisions, and you would be using it on our behalf. You would not be allowed to reproduce the logo on your own flyers, letterheads, etc. We would have to design them for you and place the logo on. Failure to adhere to these rules could constitute copyright infringement and may violate personal property laws and is punishable by law.
Custom Logo Design Time: This is a complete creation. This fee is $75 per hour with a minimum charge of $350. The actual time spent on your logo depends on how long and how many times the logo is created and recreated to achieve the desired results after sample logos are submitted for your review. This process can be very simple or very complex. The process starts with 5-6 custom logos, each with a different theme and style. We bill in 15 minute increments.
Ownership of Logo: If you plan to use the created logo on items printed elsewhere, your logo would have to be purchased outright. You then own the right to reproduce the logo at will or take the logo elsewhere for printing. This fee is in addition to the design time and approximately, twice the amount of the design time with a $350 minimum. Once the logo has been purchased, you will receive:
1) a printed “positive” of your logo in various sizes for reproduction purposes
2) the PMS color formulas to reproduce the logo
3) your logo on disk in a variety of formats for use in various computer applications
4) a vector file for manipulating or reproducing the logo on a professional level
5) a release from Graphics To Go Inc. allowing you full use of your logo
GTG Logo Usage: If you do not have the means to purchase the logo outright, another option you have is to sign an exclusivity agreement with Graphics To Go, Inc. stating you would only use the logo on items being printed by Graphics To Go, Inc. The logo is then protected under general copyright law naming Graphics To Go Inc. as the owner. This type of logo must show ownership on the logo. Example: If your logo was a star, under the star in small letters it would read: Logo © Graphics To Go, Inc.
Trademark of Logo: Graphics To Go, Inc. can provide you with an Illinois Trademark (or Servicemark where applicable) of any logo that has been completely purchased outright. You cannot Trademark a logo you do not own. If you are concerned that your logo may be “stolen” or “used”, and you do not have the funds to purchase the logo outright, Graphics To Go, Inc. can Trademark the logo under our name to preserve your usage. This fee is $95 for five years of State of Illinois protection. This is not a Federal Trademark--it can be “stolen” or “used” in other states. The only way to receive a Federal Trademark is by going through a law firm.
Color: Creating a logo in color does not require extra charges. This is automatically assumed in the creation fee. However, color is always more expensive to produce for the actual finished products, for example, business cards, letterheads, and envelopes. The more colors that are used, the higher the price. Since we do the design and the printing of our logos and stationery, we can work with our clients to minimize the number of colors used as needed to accommodate their budget.
